This has been one of the most satisfying years of my career. The warm reception of ‘Follow Your Heart’ & ‘Acoustic Review’ has been a reminder that good folks support good art. Christmas is most certainly my favorite season of the year! I thought I’d take a second and play you one of my favorite Christmas songs. I hope you enjoy it. Feel free to pass it along.

We recorded this project during the week of November 7th-November 11th at White Cabin Studios in John’s Creek, GA (as seen in the first few photographs & studio video) & The Ark in Atlanta, GA. White Cabin Studios is in a serene location, even though it was not too far from the city. The illusion that you were out in the middle of no where helped to create the perfect environment to focus & get back to the heart of these songs. I’m excited to share this project with you.

Well, TUESDAY has come and gone without a TREAT. As sad as that seems, it’s really not. Because WEDNESDAY is stepping up to plate in a big way this week. Let’s just say that TUESDAY is the St. Louis Cardinals slugger, Albert Pujols. He’s so deadly as a batter that other teams walk him just so they don’t get scored on. But the only problem is: you have the seasoned veteran, Lance Berkman, on deck (aka WEDNESDAY). This week WEDNESDAY is making the other team pay for bringing him to the plate.

As you can probably tell, I enjoyed watching this year’s World Series. For all you baseball fans out there & for all you that don’t care a lick about sports, this TREAT is for. My new friend & talented young songwriter, Matt Vaughan, was kind enough to help me with this video. He will be joining me next Thursday (11.10) at Smith’s Olde Bar for my next big show! A few questions:
- “Will there be piano on these ‘acoustic’ recordings?” Absolutely! There will be some acoustic guitar accompaniment, but the ‘acoustic’ vibe that will be aimed at is about capturing Nathan in his element – sharing his songs from behind the keys.
- “Can I request a song?” Absolutely! We have already taken requests & will continue to take requests up until the week that he begins recording. Understand that this project will be scaled down to only 6-8 songs, so it will be impossible for all requests to be fulfilled on this recording.
- “When will the project be complete? Will it be released physically or just digitally?” Nathan will spend less than a week tracking – in an attempt to not over-think or over-produce the songs. We are planning on an early December release date with physical & digital copies available – in time for Christmas.

A few words from Nathan:
I can’t tell you how excited (& scared) I am to approach these songs in this manner. I’ve never thought of recording an acoustic project, but I’m stoked to be able to go back in order to recapture the initial emotion that drove me to write these songs. Well, we’ve been having a grand ol’ time playing music for you fine folks over the past few weeks. I decided to add a new song to the set for this tour – to spice things up a bit. I mean…with a tour name like ‘Summer Lovin’, you’ve got to have a few tricks up your sleeves. It’s an upbeat jam about a girl that you know is gonna break your heart, but you can’t do anything about it because you’re so infatuated by her. Ever been there before?

This video was taken by one of you at our show in Charlotte last Saturday night at the Evening Muse. Obviously, we were having a good time that night, sharing new & old songs with the fine folks of the Queen City. I’d love to hear your thoughts about the jam.
